The latest letter layout to clamber across the mid-90s basketball boot is a tribute to the city of Chicago. The black and red colourway has a strong look, but there’s something about the new lettering that just doesn’t sit right. The classic ‘AIR’ was clever in that it flowed down to the midsole; it had an impact, like a fabled top-to-bottom whole car. The new floating letters don’t have the same strength – Downtempofeels more accurate.
